Respectable Sins

Jerry Bridges' new book is a very helpful tool for using the gospel to address those sins that we often don't even think of as sins: anxiety, unthankfulness, anger, etc. It's the kind of book that makes you squirm in every chapter. But it also provides hope that by God's grace these subtle sins can be overcome through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
.
"It does not matter whether our sin is scandalous or respectable, all our sin is sinful, only sinful and altogether sinful. Whether it is large or small in our eyes, it is heinous in the sight of God."
.

We live in a culture where serious sin is celebrated. It has become easy to be far away from Christ's standard and yet still feel pretty good about oneself. After all, I'm not as bad as THAT guy over there! But our calling as Christians is not to compare ourselves with others, our calling is to seek to be like Christ. This book is a great tool to help us keep our eyes on Him. Order it here and then read it. Or read it with a small group. Or start a breakfast book club.
